Why I Write This Blog

Addictions come in all shapes and sizes and we are just now starting to really understand them. There is a lot more to an addiction than just repeating a habit over and over until you can't quit. There is now research about the chemical changes which addiction makes in your brain which can then be passed on to offspring.

Overweight people are now much more common than when I was the fat kid in the 80s. Part of the problem is our highly processed, genetically modified diet which is choc full of sugar. Another problem is addiction. People are addicted to food, especially sugar. My family has all kinds of addictions: money, drugs, alcohol, and food.

My hope in sharing my experiences is that I can encourage people dealing with similar issues, educate people who don't understand what it is like to use food as a drug, and to do whatever I can to fight against what media is doing to give us such a skewed vision of beauty. It's also therapeutic to write about what you are going through.

I intend to be really open and honest here.
